Sedation Dentistry

Relax at the Dentist? Yes, You Can!

Approximately 9-15% of Americans (that’s 30-40 million people!) have some dental anxiety or even dental phobia—so if you’re one of them, you are in good company. Blue Wave Dental offers a full menu of sedation options to help you get the care you need, comfortably.

  • Nitrous oxide–also known as laughing gas–is the mildest form of dental sedation.
  • Oral sedation is what it sounds like—take a pill, and before you know it, it’s over!
  • IV sedation administers anti-anxiety medications directly into the bloodstream.

Big Work or Small,
Sedation Can Ease It All

You won’t believe how sedation dentistry can ease your mind and relax you in the dental chair—get in touch with us today!

How Sedation Dentistry Really Happens
May Surprise You

Sedation dentistry isn’t about getting a patient into the chair and rendering them unconscious—that idea could make even the calmest patient a little jumpy. We’re here to tell you that is not the way dental sedation works. Dr. Nisenboym offers conscious sedation options, one of which is the IV method.

Part of choosing sedation includes a consultation prior to your procedure. Dr. Nisenboym will discuss your treatment plan with you, including the detailed pros and cons of sedation. If you have chosen oral sedation, he will give you a prescription for a sedative to take on the day of your procedure.

IV Sedation is Both Safe & Convenient

Dr. Nisenboym holds a permit allowing him to administer IV sedation in-office—a certification not usually acquired by most general dentists. Without the need for an additional anesthesiology professional, patient costs are kept lower—and your dental services can be completed in our office for optimal convenience and comfort.

Other Sedation Options to Consider

Dr. Nisenboym also offers oral sedation and nitrous oxide to reduce dental-related stress. These methods are commonly used for generalized dental fear and anxiety but also provide extra relaxation for almost any dental procedure, including hygiene appointments. The most important thing to us is that you feel at ease!

  • With oral sedation, you fill a sedative prescription before your appointment.
  • You take the prescribed medication an hour before your appointment starts.
  • Nitrous oxide is used during your service, wearing off before you drive home.
